Give the trip a name, pick a country, and search for your courses — verified courses load all 18 holes automatically, including slope, rating, par, and stroke indexes. It takes under a minute to get set up.
Send email invites from the Admin panel. Players tap the link, join the trip, and enter their playing handicap. You can also add players manually and set handicaps yourself.
Open the scorecard and enter gross strokes hole by hole. The app calculates Stableford points and net scores automatically using each player's course handicap and the hole stroke index.
Enable Wolf, Skins, Nassau, BBB, Yellow Ball or Vegas before a round starts. Results update as scores come in. The leaderboard updates live so every player can follow the standings on their phone.

Each trip supports unlimited rounds. Organise players into tee groups with start times, run different scoring formats on different days, and keep a running trip leaderboard that updates automatically as each round finishes.

Automatic scoring — Stableford & Stroke Play
Choose the scoring format when you create each round. Stableford awards points per hole based on your net score versus par — eagle earns 4, birdie 3, par 2, bogey 1, double bogey or worse 0. Stroke Play records total net strokes, with the lowest score winning.
Handicap strokes are applied automatically, hole by hole, using each player's course handicap and the stroke index for each hole. When a course includes slope and course rating data, Golf Score Buddy calculates the exact course handicap for every player — so there's nothing to work out by hand.
Mixed groups are fully supported: players can choose different tees within the same round, with the correct par, stroke index, and ladies' card applied per player. For groups where some players use men's tees and others use ladies' tees, the app handles all the handicap arithmetic separately.
Live leaderboard — everyone sees the standings
The leaderboard updates the moment a score is saved. Every player on the trip can open the app on their phone and see the current standings — overall, per round, and by team. There's no need to wait until the end of the day or have someone update a shared spreadsheet.
Public trips are shareable: anyone with the link can view the leaderboard without creating an account. Friends and family back home can follow along in real time.

Run any combination of side games alongside the main round. All results are calculated automatically as scores come in — no separate tracking needed.
Wolf
Players rotate as Wolf each hole. The Wolf picks a partner after seeing tee shots — or declares Lone Wolf to take on the field alone. Best net score wins. Going Lone Wolf and winning pays triple; losing costs the same.
Skins
The sole lowest net score on a hole wins the skin. Ties carry over, rolling the pot into the next hole. A run of ties can make a single hole worth a fortune. One of the most dramatic formats in social golf.
Nassau
Three separate bets played simultaneously: the front 9, the back 9, and the full 18. You can win the front and lose the back and still take the overall. Each bet is independent and settled on its own.
Bingo Bango Bongo
Three points per hole, awarded for physical events rather than score. Bingo goes to the first player on the green. Bango to the closest to the pin once everyone is on. Bongo to the first player to hole out. Handicap doesn't apply.
Yellow Ball
Players rotate holding the yellow ball through a set order. The holder's Stableford score anchors the team score for that hole, combined with the best two from the rest of the group. Works especially well for five-player groups.
Vegas
Two teams each combine their two best Stableford scores into a two-digit number — lower score in the tens column. The team with the smaller number wins the difference in points. A birdie from the winning team flips the opponent's number, massively increasing the swing.

Golf Score Buddy is a Progressive Web App. Open it in your phone's browser and add it to your home screen for a fullscreen app experience on iOS and Android. No download, no app store, no updates to manage.
Offline scoring — no signal required
Once loaded, the app works without an internet connection. Enter scores on the course even if you have no signal, and everything syncs automatically when you reconnect. Essential for remote courses.
AI scorecard scanning
Take a photo of a paper scorecard and the AI will read the scores for you. Review the result, make any corrections, and save — ideal for courses where players still use paper cards.
Team competitions
Create teams and assign players in Admin. When team scoring is enabled for a round, the best individual scores are combined per team. Team standings appear on the leaderboard alongside individual results.
Weights and Measures
Log house rules, side bets, and forfeit challenges under the Weights and Measures tab. Proposed rules need admin approval before they're pinned for the group — a simple way to formalise the fun.
Admin PIN protection
Optional PIN protection keeps admin controls private. Enable it from the Admin panel to restrict score editing and settings to the trip organiser. Leave it off for a casual group where everyone manages their own entries.

Is Golf Score Buddy free?
Yes, completely free. No subscription, no credit card, no limits on trips or rounds. The full feature set — scoring, side games, leaderboard, AI scanning — is available to everyone.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Golf Score Buddy is a PWA that works offline once you've loaded it. Scores are saved locally and sync when you get a signal back. You won't lose anything if your phone drops connection mid-round.
How does handicap calculation work?
Enter each player's playing handicap (or handicap index) once. When a round uses a course with slope and rating data, the app calculates the exact course handicap automatically. Strokes are allocated to the hardest holes by stroke index, so Stableford points and net scores are always correct.
Can players on different tees play in the same round?
Yes. Each player can be assigned their own set of tees — white, yellow, red, or any tee the course supports. The correct par, stroke index, and handicap allowance is applied to each player separately.
How many players can be on a trip?
There is no fixed limit. Golf Score Buddy is designed for typical golf trip sizes — 4 to 20 players — but will handle larger groups too.
Can non-players follow the leaderboard?
Yes. Each trip has a shareable public link. Anyone with the link can view the leaderboard and scores in real time without creating an account — useful for friends and family who aren't on the trip.
